Walker College of Business Department of Management
The Department of Management is focused on preparing students for successful and rewarding careers in a variety of management positions. The department offers degree programs with majors in Management (MGT), Health Care Management (HCM) and Hospitality & Tourism Management (HOS). Coursework emphasizes planning and strategic management, human resource management, exploration of venture opportunities, decision making, problem solving, and communications. BSBA in Management
Beginning Fall, 2007 a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) degree with a major in Management (MGT) may be obtained by completion of the Walker College of Business core courses, core MGT courses (6 hours), and courses (18 hours) associated with one of the following three areas of concentration: Entrepreneurship, General Management or Human Resource Management. Hospitality & Tourism MGT
A Bachelor of Science of Business Administration degree with a major in Hospitality and Tourism Management (HOS) may be obtained within the Walker College of Business. This program is intended for students who plan to seek careers in the hospitality or tourism industry.
Health Care MGT
The HCM degree program was established in the Walker College of Business in 1972 in response to demands from health providers in North Carolina and surrounding areas for managers with solid business skills who are also knowledgeable of the uniqueness of the health care industry.
Master's Program in IO/HRM
Appalachian State offers a master's program in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and Human Resource Management.
