Dr. Marie-Claire Villeval [vita], a Research Director at the French National Center for Scientific Research visits the college November 27-29. She will present some of her research on Monday, Nov. 27 from 3:30-5:00 pm, in Raley Hall room #3010. The paper is entitled “Self-Selection and the Efficiency of Tournaments”.

Dr. Frank Janssen [vita], Holder of the Brederode Chair in Entrepreneurship at the Louvain School of Management, Université Catholique de Louvain in Belgium, visited November 4-11 [schedule].

Dr. Boris Kabanoff [bio], Director of the Australian Centre for Business Research at Queensland University in Brisbane, visited August 16-18. While at Appalachian, he presented to talks: "When Corporate Executives Take a Short-Term View of Organizational Performance: What is Driving It and What Are Its Effects?" and "Do Prospectors, Analyzers, and Defenders have Different Knowledge Structures? A Study of Cognitive Strategic Groups."
Spring 2005
Dr. Dodo zu Knyphausen- Aufsess [vita], Professor of Human Resources and Organization from the University of Bamberg, Germany, visited the college from March 28-April 8 [schedule]. In addition to giving classroom presentations and attending the Harlan Boyles CEO Lecture activities, he participated in several events with students from Fudan University in Shanghai, who were on campus as part of the William Holland Fellows Program.

Dr. Juan Llopis [vita], Professor of Business Organization and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at the University of Alicante in Spain, visited from April 8-23 [schedule]. In addition to activities within the college, since he was here during the week of Chancellor Peacock’s installation, Dr. Llopis attended several activities related to that event, including representing his university in the installation ceremony.

Dr. Calvin Lin [vita], Associate Professor and Department Head, Department of Public Finance and Taxation at National Taichung Institute of Technology, Taiwan was a visiting scholar [schedule] in the College of Business. During November 6-20, 2004, Dr. Lin provided lectures in the core business classes and held discussions with our faculty and students.

The College hosted Ms. Nadine Weber, as the first international visiting scholar [schedule] Ms. Weber, Trier University, Germany provided lectures during a two-week period (July 12-23, 2004) in business classes. She also participated and provided instruction to the students in the Martha Guy Summer Institute for high school students. Ms. Weber’s presentations introduced students to many issues and problems related to international business.
