Walker College International Programs - GERMANY!

GermanyStudents from Appalachian State and Germany's University of Bamberg enjoyed weeks of cross-Atlantic travel and new international relations during an exchange program in Fall 2005.

In September, a group of 12 German students came to Boone to spend a week with Appalachian peers. They participated in team building exercises, studied entrepreneurship and began working on group projects which would culminate three months later with presentation in Germany.

The Appalachian group left for Germany in November. They continued working on projects, but also visited a Germany brewery, had dinner in a castle and toured a BMW plant in Munich.

Appalachian students Jon West and Chad Ledford - now alumni businessmen who co-own the online company 3tailer - were in that class. Jon said the International Entrepreneurship in Germany “was honestly the most rewarding experience we had while acquiring our undergraduate education from Appalachian State University.  The lessons learned allowed us to immediately pursue our dream of owning our own company and building a successful online brand.  Without the encouragement from the instructor and the education we gained from this class, this dream may not have developed into reality. “

Jon was an Information Systems major and Chad majored in Management. Both graduated in 2006
