It would appear few can navigate Wall Street as efficiently as Walker College’s Bowden Investment Group.

The student group, which meets as a class and receives course credit, manages an investment portfolio established in 2000. Each semester students must investigate new investment opportunities, review current holdings, and possibly make recommendations to both “buy” and “sell”.

In what has been an obviously weak market, the BIG has reason to crow, according to instructor Dr. Delbert C. Goff.

The spring semester has been over for a few weeks and the students in the outgoing Bowden Investment Group left the portfolio in good shape for the next group. The returns for the portfolio over the past few months have been good and the Bowden Investment Fund is outperforming the market. The following table gives the year-to-date returns for the portfolio and for the market.

Yes indeed, it’s been a really good year for the group. And 2008 wasn’t a bad year either.

Here is the 2008 portfolio for the BIG.
