basketball gameday March 1
Join Walker College of Business faculty and staff for a reception for alumni and friends from noon-3pm at the McKinney Alumni Center. Food and beverages will be available. The Appalachian State women's basketball team will face Georgia Southern at 1 p.m., followed by the men's team against Western Carolina at 3:30 p.m. This should be an exciting afternoon as it will be the final regular season game for both teams.
WCOB alumni can reserve free tickets to both games. There are limited tickets available, so please act quickly by contacting the Walker College Director of Development Geoff Graham at (828) 262-6231 or by emailing grahamgl@appstate.edu. We look forward to seeing you on March 1.
Walker College held a similar GameDay during football season. Prior to the Western Carolina game, alumni and faculty mingled at a social held within the Quinn Center. At halftime, Walker College students and administrators accepted a check from Beroth Oil and 4Brothers Food Stores for $40,000. The money, proceeds from the Appalachian State Scholarship Golf Classic, which was held in September at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons, supports student and faculty travel to conferences, student scholarships, faculty research, and a professorship that provides a salary stipend and funds to enhance a faculty member's teaching.
The golf tournament, now in its 15th year, has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars overall for Walker students and faculty.
