Walker College Academic Advising Graduation Audit
A graduation audit is an official review of the courses you have taken and your progress in meeting graduation requirements. This will supersede any other advising plans previously completed. Graduation audits should be completed early in the semester prior to the last semester of classes – students doing an internship or study abroad during their last semester will need to do an audit two semesters prior to graduation (this includes accounting majors doing an internship and then minicourses in the final semester).

What is the graduation audit process ?
- Submit a request for a graduate audit by September 18. A completed audit will be sent to your ASU email address no later than October 23th. Audits will be worked up in the order in which the requests are received.
- When a completed audit is sent to your ASU email address, read the email carefully and review the audit completely.
- Click here for an overview of the information on the audit.
- If you agree with the audit, sign and date it and take it to Ms. Penny Kuzyszyn in 4052 Raley Hall within two weeks.
- If you do not agree with the audit or if you have questions about the audit, contact Ms. Penny Kuzyszyn at kuzyszynpl@appstate.edu or 828.262.7727 within two weeks of receiving your audit. She will review your audit with you.
- Complete the advising survey within one day of turning in your signed audit (information about the survey is on the audit and in the email).
- Be sure you have completed steps 1-6 of the grad audit process within two weeks of the date on the email that has your grad audit attached.
- You will get an electronic permit that will allow you to register for MGT 4750 or MGT 4760 if you have completed the grad audit process within two weeks of the date on the email that has your grad audit attached (permits for all others will be entered after early registration).
Is it true that I cannot get a seat in MGT 4750/4760 (Strategic Management) until I have done a Graduation Audit?
Yes! Students must turn in a graduation audit and complete an online advising survey before being allowed to register for MGT 4750/4760. All seats in MGT 4750/4760 are reserved for graduating seniors. Students who miss the audit deadline will get a permit once they have done the audit and survey, but not until after early registration.
When should I get a graduation audit?
Students should get a graduation audit during the semester just prior to the last regular semester of course work (this will be one semester prior to graduation for most students and two semesters prior to graduation for those doing an internship or a study abroad program in their last semester.
Get a graduation audit early in the fall semester if . . .1. You are finishing all course work in the following spring or summer and will graduate in that spring or summer, or
2. You are finishing all course work in the spring or summer before doing an internship or study abroad program during the summer or fall (graduating at the end of the internship term or study abroad term).
Get a graduation audit early in the spring semester if . . .
1. You are finishing all course work in the following fall and will graduate at the end of that term, or
2. You are finishing all course work (except accounting mini-courses) in the following fall before doing an internship or study abroad program during the following spring (graduating at the end of the spring term).
What if I have questions about my audit?
If you do not understand the information on the audit, please read the "Understanding Your Grad Audit" document online. If you still do not understand it after reading this or if you have questions about the accuracy of the audit, contact Ms. Penny Kuzyszyn at kuzyszynpl@appstate.edu or 828.262.7727 for assistance. Do not sign the audit until you are sure you understand it because you will be required to abide by the information on the audit. If you have questions about your course schedule or your GPA after signing your audit, you should meet with a COB advisor in 2126 Raley Hall.
What if I want to get a graduation audit done earlier to make sure I am on track?
Graduation audits will only be done according to the schedule above. However, students can make sure they are on track bymaking an appointment to see a business advisor anytime to review academic progress.
Is there anything I need to do to prepare for a graduation audit?
If you are pursuing a minor that requires a contract, you must be sure that the contract is in your file prior to requesting an audit.
What if I am going to be away doing an internship or study abroad during the semester in which I should be getting a grad audit?
You will submit your request for an audit as you would if you were off campus. You will also be emailed a completed audit within six weeks. If you agree with the audit, you can reply to the email with the attached audit and indicate your agreement. If you do not agree with the audit, you can contact the designated person by email or phone to discuss any discrepancies you perceive in your audit.
My audit says I need a 3000/4000 level COB elective; what can I take to fulfill that?
A COB elective can be any 3000/4000 level business course with the prefix ACC, BUS, CIS, ECO, FIN, HCM, HOS, LAW, MGT, MKT, POM, or SCM with the exception of MGT 3010, FIN 3010 or any other course that says "not open to business majors for credit". We do not have a list of 3000/4000 leve COB electives because a course that is required for one business major could be an elective for a different business major.
My audit says I need a 3000/4000 level free elective in or out of the COB; what should I take to complete that requirement?
To complete your 3000/4000 level, you can take more busines courses at the 3000/4000 level (with the exception of MGT 3010, FIN 3010 or any other course that says "not open to business majors for credit") or you can take any non business course at the 3000/4000 level. Click here for a list of most of the 3000/4000 non business courses offered at ASU that do not have prerequisites (or did not have prerequisites at the time the list was compiled).
